What is the lead time needed to deliver a drone show?
For optimal results, we recommend an ideal preparation time of approximately 2 months (8 weeks).
This timeframe allows us to smoothly manage all key stages of your project: from the artistic conception of the 3D choreography and validation of simulations, to real-world flight testing on our private airbase.
Can a drone show be organized on short notice?
Yes. Dronisos is fully capable of deploying spectacular shows on much shorter notice. This is especially feasible if you select a performance from our catalog of pre-designed, ready-to-fly shows, or if the airspace authorizations for the location are straightforward.
What factors can extend this lead time? The delivery timeline depends primarily on three administrative and logistical factors:
- Flight permits: Depending on the country and the specific zone (proximity to airports, urban areas), obtaining clearances from civil aviation authorities can take anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks.
- Logistics and transport: Transporting heavy equipment and lithium batteries via international air freight requires incompressible transit and customs delays.
- Bespoke creation: Developing a unique storyboard and a fully customized 3D animation synchronized with an original soundtrack requires a collaborative process of creative iterations.
Where can a drone show be performed?
We perform both indoors and outdoors, virtually anywhere in the world. To date, our drones have flown in more than 30 countries, creating spectacles against some of the world's most iconic backdrops as well as inside enclosed venues. For every project, we carry out a comprehensive site assessment to design a bespoke operational layout that maximizes safety, audience visibility, and overall impact.
For outdoor drone light shows, the main requirement is an open sky and a dedicated, secure ground footprint. The primary operational focus is maintaining a clear safety perimeter between the drone launchpad, the active flight zone, and the spectators. Our operational teams evaluate local airspace restrictions, ground topography, and environmental factors during the planning phase to ensure a flawless and fully compliant operation.
When it comes to indoor spectacles, our proprietary indoor positioning technology allows our drones to operate seamlessly without the need for a GPS signal. This enables us to safely transform any enclosed structure into a high-tech aerial stage. The main technical constraint for an indoor performance is the available vertical clearance, with shows being fully viable in spaces featuring a minimum ceiling height.
What is the duration of a typical show?
A typical indoor or outdoor drone light show usually lasts between 10 to 15 minutes. This duration is organically dictated by standard drone battery capacity and represents the optimal window to deliver a high-impact, densely choreographed aerial narrative that holds the audience’s full attention.
For events requiring a longer format, your performance does not have to be limited by a single battery charge. Thanks to our patented Smart Fleet system and our proprietary software tool, Symphony, Dronisos can extend show durations seamlessly. This advanced ecosystem manages smooth, automated drone transitions in real time, replacing drones with depleted batteries with fresh ones fresh from the launchpad without ever interrupting the live spectacle.
This unique technology allows us to provide virtually limitless flight times, making it the ideal solution for permanent theme park installations, large-scale public celebrations, or multi-chapter corporate events that require a continuous or extended presence in the sky.
What type of drones do you use?
We do not use standard, off-the-shelf equipment. We partner with leading manufacturers like the French brand Parrot to source reliable hardware, which our engineers deeply modify in France with proprietary software and custom components built exclusively for light shows.
Our specialized fleet includes:
HELIOS - The Indoor Expert

Do the drones have cameras and can they take pictures or videos?
No, our drones are engineered exclusively for light entertainment and do not carry cameras, recording equipment, or sensors. The only payload integrated into our fleet is the high-intensity LED system used to illuminate the sky.
This hardware-level design ensures 100% data privacy and regulatory compliance, making our spectacles completely secure and confidential for public, corporate, and government events.
What are the steps to bring my project to life?
We manage the entire process through a clear, seven-step workflow:
1. Project planning – We work with you to define the type of show and establish a timeline.
2. Site Assessment – We determine the best location to ensure an optimal experience while maintaining the highest safety standards.
3. Flight Permits – We handle all necessary authorizations.
4. Creative Development – Our artistic team collaborates with you to bring your vision to life.
5. Rehearsals – If needed, we conduct test runs on our private airbase to fine-tune every detail.
6. On-Site Setup – We take care of the full installation and carry out final rehearsals.
7. Showtime! – Sit back and enjoy the spectacle.
How far is the drone show visible?
Outdoor drone shows create massive aerial displays, typically averaging 200 meters wide by 100 meters high. While the optimal recommended viewing distance for maximum detail is around 300 meters, our high-intensity LEDs ensure incredible long-range visibility.
Under clear weather conditions, the choreography can be seen from up to 3 kilometers away.

How does weather (wind and rain) affect an outdoor drone show?
Our drones are engineered to handle light rain and sustained wind speeds of up to 30 km/h while maintaining perfect choreographic synchronization. Weather conditions exceeding these limits will impact flight safety and visual precision.
To mitigate meteorological risks, our on-site show manager monitors local weather data in real-time and collaborates closely with your team to safely adapt the launch schedule, delay the start, or optimize the performance window.
How much does a drone light show cost?
Every drone light show is fully custom-made, meaning there are no fixed pricing brackets. The final budget is determined by several core variables: the host country, the environment (indoor vs. outdoor), the total number of drones deployed, the show's duration, and the overall complexity of the 3D choreography.

Who takes care of the permissions and authorisations necessary to fly drones at my event?
Dronisos handles the entire regulatory and administrative process. We manage all local airspace clearances, civil aviation permits, and insurance requirements tailored to your specific event location.
While international drone regulations are highly restrictive, our proprietary technology and safety protocols are pre-certified by civil aviation authorities in over 30 countries worldwide, including the FAA in the US and the DGAC in France. We also hold permanent safety approvals from major global theme parks, ensuring a reliable and fully compliant authorization process.
Can you fly drones over water?
Yes, absolutely. Flying over water is one of our specialties and offers a spectacular visual effect due to the natural mirror reflection on the water's surface.
The key operational requirement is securing a stable launch and landing zone, which can be located on the shoreline or set up directly on a secured barge or boat. Our team handles all specific maritime or river safety clearances alongside the standard aviation permits to ensure a flawless operation over oceans, lakes, or rivers. We do this every single day, for example, at the “Cascade of Lights” show at Disneyland Paris.

How many drones do I need for my event?
The more drones you have, the more detail and higher resolution you can achieve, as the drones are in essence, pixels in the sky. Dronisos shows include a minimum of 400 drones.
The number of drones acts as the "pixel resolution" of the sky. The larger the fleet, the more detailed and complex the 3D shapes and animations will be.

What is the maximum number of drones you can fly simultaneously?
Outdoors, we have flown up to 5,000 drones simultaneously in the past. If the project demands, we can fly even more.
Indoors, although we are limited by the size of the venue, we have flown up to 200 drones simultaneously in the past. We currently hold the world record for the largest swarm of drones flying simultaneously indoors.
Can the drone show be incorporated alongside other live performances?
Absolutely. Our drone fleets are engineered to integrate seamlessly into complex, multi-sensory live events. We have a proven track record of synchronizing our aerial choreography alongside live dancers, musicians, magicians, stage performers, and even full-scale aircraft.

What information do I need to provide to request an estimate for my event?
To provide you with the most accurate estimate, please share as many details as possible. The more information we receive, the more precise our proposal will be. Key details to include are the type of event, event location, the number of drones required, show duration, event date, whether it's a one-time or recurring show, and if you already have a storyboard or visuals. Additionally, let us know if there will be other live performances or specific logistical requirements.

Do you provide pyrotechnic drones?
Yes, we specialize in pyrotechnic drone displays, combining high-impact aerial effects with industry-leading safety protocols.
Utilizing our robust, heavy-lift drone platforms, we deploy a wide variety of fully customizable effects, including fountains, fire pots, and daytime smoke, with tailored colors and durations. Every effect is meticulously programmed and synchronized with the flight choreography, making this a spectacular solution for both day and night premium events.

How do you ensure the safety of your shows?
Safety is the absolute keystone of everything we do. We partner with trusted manufacturers to build custom safety devices directly into the hardware. Our team of 25 R&D engineers then replaces the factory firmware entirely with our proprietary software, controlling the fleet from the ground right down to the drone motors to guarantee multiple redundant safety layers.
This total technical mastery allows us to safely operate a highly flexible fleet, ranging from 70g indoor drones to 8kg platforms used for massive productions like Puy du Fou. Every single aircraft is engineered with hard fail-safes, ensuring it can never enter the audience zone.
Our reliability is proven daily across more than 10 global theme parks. Our systems are fully certified by civil aviation authorities in over 30 countries, including the FAA in the US and the DGAC in France, and we hold advanced pyrotechnic permits for both Europe and the USA.
